Request / Suggest translation
If a term already exists in the database but you'd like to request that particular languages be added, you can do this via the Request translation workflow.
If you're a linguist then this will automatically appear as Suggest translation for you as we expect linguists to offer a translation when requesting a language be added for a term.
Request translation
Start by searching for the term in question, then select the Request translation button.
In the dialog box that opens up, you can select the languages you'd like to be added from the Request language drop-down box.
If you speak this language and believe you can provide an initial translation for the concept, you can select the Provide initial translation checkbox and you'll be prompted to provide the translation and any language specific metadata, as shown below.
Once done, hit Send, and your request will be sent to the terminology team who can take further action as appropriate.
Suggest translation
Start by searching for the term in question, then select the Suggest translation button.
The below dialog box will open, prompting you to provide the necessary information. For translators and language leads, the Target language is automatically set to their language specialities.
If the target language already has a translation for the concept selected, you will see a warning highlighting this fact as shown in the screenshot below.
Although this is just a warning and should not stop you from submitting an alternative translation, we ask that you provide information explaining why an alternative translation is needed.
You can do this by providing the relevant metadata and/or a comment in the comment box. If no reason is provided then it's likely the terminology team will have to come back to you requesting further information.
Once you're happy with your suggestion you can click Submit translation (translator) or Save and finalize (lang lead). This will send the suggestion to either the Language Lead at your company (if you're a translator) or the Vendor Linguistic Manager (if you're a Language Lead) for review & approval. Otherwise, it will be sent to the Terminology Team.
